Join our diet prep team! Are you passionate about animals and interested in making a difference behind the scenes? Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with food preparation for our diverse range of residents.

Role Overview: As a Diet Preparation Volunteer, you will play a vital role in ensuring our animals receive the high-quality, species-specific diets they need to thrive. Your day will start at 12.30pm with preparing exotic food diets until approximately 3.00PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare food for our exotic animals ensuring their unique dietary requirements are met.

• Handle and prepare a variety of fresh ingredients (including meat).

• Prepare diets following species specific diet sheets.

• Keep the diet preparation area clean and organized.

• Handle and store food items safely, maintaining hygiene standards.

• Work collaboratively with our team to support the animals’ well-being. Skills and Requirements:

• Minimum one year commitment

• Food Preparation Skills: Experience or comfort with preparing food safely and hygienically, preferably in a kitchen or animal care setting.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to follow specific instructions, measure ingredients accurately, and understand dietary variations.

• Commitment to Animal Welfare: A strong interest in animal care and dedication to supporting animal health through proper nutrition.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift food containers (up to 5kg), and handle a variety of food items.

• Team Player: Willingness to work closely with staff and other volunteers in a supportive environment.

• Reliable and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for animals.

• Comfortable handling fresh produce and working in a kitchen environment.

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to commit to afternoon shifts starting at 12:30 PM – 3.00PM
