Enderby Island Rabbit

Rugged Suvivors

The rare Enderby Island rabbit is a hardy, compact breed with thick fur, uniquely adapted to New Zealand’s subantarctic islands. In 1992, Michael Willis, founder of Willowbank, helped rescue a founder group before a Department of Conservation eradication programme, establishing the basis for a captive breeding programme. Willowbank continues to safeguard and breed this remarkable species today.
